Balancing Bear Yoga Posture

Hi! And welcome back to yoga zodiac blog where we talk about the best yoga postures for each individual zodiac sun sign.

In this post we're going to be celebrating the nature of the zodiac sign, Scorpio. Oh Scorpios, so hard to resist but so easy to fear. If you know a Scorpio, then there's a good chance this person is very cool and calm; maybe they even give off the vibes of dangerously sexy. Scorpios are known for their magnetic and intense personality. These souls have a magnetic presence that draws others in. Their intense nature and passionate demeanor can be captivating and intriguing. Scorpio people possess a certain aura of mystery and depth that piques curiosity and generates fascination.

As a water sign, Scorpios are known for their emotional depth and authenticity. They are not afraid to delve into the depths of their emotions and explore the complexities of their inner world. This willingness to be vulnerable and genuine can create strong connections with others, as they often encourage and inspire others to do the same. Scorpios are fiercely loyal and protective of those they care about. Once they form a bond or establish trust, they are known for their unwavering loyalty and commitment.

The Scorpio sign oozes desirability, but like every star on the zodiac they have their faults. Scorpio people are notoriously hyper controlling. As a fixed sign, they tend to hold onto emotions and experiences strongly, which can manifest as a desire for control. They want to understand and navigate their emotional world with precision, often seeking to influence their environment to maintain a sense of stability. This is a sign that has a strong desire for power and control because of their intense and passionate nature! Whether it be over their own lives or the situations they find themselves in, they invest a great deal of energy and focus into achieving their goals and can become single-minded in their pursuit, sometimes at the expense of others.

Scorpios may also exhibit controlling tendencies to ensure that trust is not betrayed and that they are not vulnerable to manipulation or deception. These people value trust and loyalty above all else. Due to their intense nature, they can be quite guarded and protective of their emotions and how willing they are to let themselves connect. Also, Scorpios can have a deep-seated fear of vulnerability and being taken advantage of. This fear may drive them to control situations and relationships as a means of self-protection. They prefer to have a firm grasp on the reins and can be uncomfortable when they are not in control.

Now, there's nothing wrong with control, but the key (as always) is balance. The posture that will help the Scorpio keep balance while also maintaining control is Balancing Bear Pose (Merduasana).

Balancing Bear Pose on the beach

This posture requires serious concentration on the core, on the sit bones, out through the feet, and through the crown of the head. It is the perfect state of uniting control and expansion. You might fall, and that will be out of your control. Trust that you will get back up, and when you do you will have a wiser mind for how to approach Balancing Bear. This posture represents the lesson that control is fine, and necessary, but sometimes there are moments when being too controlling can cost you stability and faith in yourself. Scorpios are advised to take this Balancing Bear yoga pose with the intention of applying an equal amount of core control and space for new experiences.

To Come into Balancing Bear Posture:

  • Begin sitting with the knees slightly bent and the hands grabbing the big toes of the feet.

  • Lif the chest, lean back, and extend the legs so that you are balancing on your sit bones located in your glutes.

  • The fingers can stay wrapped around the big toes, or you can take them to the outside of the feet.

  • To maintain the pose keep a strong core activation, strong pelvic floor, and a lifted heart center.

**It is not recommended to do this yoga pose if you have a hamstring injury.

My Scorpio friends, enjoy all the benefits this yoga posture has to bring: a renewed uplifted energy, a toned core, an extended spine, and MORE CONFIDANCE! This pose will help you to connect to your true nature and accept peace alongside the anxiety that rules your controlling tendencies. Learn to trust and breathe that you can let go, as least for a little while.
